Hello.. Great forum with great info!! My name is Bob and I live in Long Island, NY. The last time I ran a train was 25 years ago. I guess I was about 11 years old. We started out with HO scale and moved onto O scale. HO was fun but watching the milk car pull up and the milkman load the milk barrels in O scale was really cool. A little ways down the line and the "horse" boxcar would pull in and here come all the horses into the car. Long story short, Girls came into the picture and bye bye went the trains. My father gave all the O scale stuff to my uncle and over the years they were sold. So 12 years ago I buy a few O scale pieces and a set from MTH. I was going to put together a little something but that didn't work out as planned. New job, marriage and a little one on the way and my trains go back in the bins. Two days ago I am searching on google for model steam engine castings and come across "Brass HO train models". All those wonderful memory's come back to me and I think back to when I was a kid playing with my trains in the basement. This is how I ended up on this forum. I have a few different hobbies. I am a Ham radio OP, Tether car racing, Model steam engines and Hit & Miss engines. Last night I was thinking of getting back into HO scale. I have some room in the basement but not enough to do O scale. And after doing a little reading on the forum I see things have really changed in the hobby. Tomorrow I will take a 10 minute drive to Train Land and look around. Thank you and looking foward to learning alot more about an old hobby turned new. Bob
Bob, welcome to Trainboard. It sounds as if you are rediscovering the hobby, and this is a great place to visit to see what is going on with it, in all scales. Hope to hear of your future endeavors.
Hi Bob, welcome to the TrainBoard. Glad to have you on board, and looking forward to helping you regain your train hobby.
Thank you for the welcome. I guess it's true. Ham OP are into everything. I listen to a lot of the guys up near you on 75 AM. I will have to put a radio in the basement and listen for you while I start the layout. 73's Bob K2RGF
