Hello! I finally joined TrainBoard after finding a lot of interesting posts in my Google searches. I am working on an N-scale layout set in the Chicago area (DuPage County), with a mixture of elements from such communities as Downers Grove, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Woodridge, and end points in eastern Iowa and downtown Chicago (the Amtrak locomotive shops). My era modelled is the present. I am interested in modelling MOW and shop equipment and operations (BNSF/Amtrak/CSX/Conrail), passenger/commuter rail (Metra and Amtrak), and other rail activities seen in this area. My layout will have the ability to be changed fairly simply to represent the Boston area (where I lived for about 20 years before moving to Illinois); on my previous layout, I modelled Conrail (pre-merger), Amtrak, and Guildford (now Pan-Am), and am eagerly awaiting Kato or some other manufacturer to come out with quality ready-to-roll MBTA equipment. I also model N-scale aviation, mostly helicopters (trying to stay as close to 1/160 as possible). I also collect other trains and die-cast vehicles in all scales. Hope you all are having a great New Year! -- Ryan Minor
Hello from Lockport. I was really excited to see Kato's Metra set. I may have to pick-up a second one. Although I'd really like to see them do the F40PH.
