I've been lurking awhile and decided to join. I grew up with various sorts of toy trains and had an extensive Lionel set into my teens. I put away trains during college and started up again about 8 years ago, now focusing on HO.

My first item as an adult was a small Woodland Scenics storefront. Since I didn't have a layout, when it was done I put it on a shelf. I wouldn't get a layout for another 3 or so years. Luckily I have a model railroad club nearby and started going there.

Today I have a small layout in a closet at home depicting a streetcar in the fictitious town of Gelton City. It's mostly done but is so uncomfortable to work on I haven't completed it in 5 years. It requires a step stool and reaching into the corners is difficult being in a closet. Alas it's the only place I could have a layout with cats and dogs at home.

I rent a basement not too far that I use for my other layout. That layout depicts a shortline in the Ozark Mountains in the late to mid 90s. The Central States and Western Railroad. It's an out and back that also has continuous operation. The line serves small industries in a handful of towns and interchanges with a Class I. It's built on sectional benchwork for when I have to move it.

I hope to share more about my adventures and look forward to reading other posts.

I sure do, here is a larger one of my current Avatar currently. Another of my more complete scenes, stopping to pick up passengers at Newton.

Here are some of Gelton City

Don't pay attention to the underside of the NSL. It recently got out of the shop and doesn't have its details.

Hi CS, etc., Welcome, happy to have you on board. I, especially am happy because you appear to be a Trolley Meister. I was a Lioneler until 1947, then HO until 1980-ish, finally an N Scaler for the past almost 40 years. Now I'm building a hollow core door HO trolley experiment under hot wire, just 'cause. OK, I'm a retired computer systems engineer who got bored with N Scale...LOL. So, I will be asking for your help when everything turns to "fertilizer".

Thanks! Always happy to help, I’m still learning as I go. My overhead isn’t hot yet, maybe someday. I’m happy enough it doesn’t dewire too much and you can hear the tension as the poles move around.
