Hello! My name is Grant. I am in Canada.

I joined Trainboard because I am a miniature wargamer in micro scale (1:285) and I am working on a Stalingrad table. I ordered some z scale track last week, and I guess that means I have some work to do.

Ironicallu, I don't want my track to be live, just a scale representation, but I'm having a very hard time finding z scale locomotives and rolling stock that doesn't make we wonder which is more expensive: the train or the impending divorce :)

    I've posted a wanted ad.

Of course, if it doesn't quite work out, I might have to figure out how to make a live track...

i would post a link to my blog, but I will wait 3 days - spam rules :rats:

Hi Grant. Welcome to TrainBoard :)
I'm not familiar with 'wargaming' but if you need to find Z scale products you might try looking into some of our sponsors sites. Good luck.

Thanks Bill! Wargaming is getting to play with the toys we paint. :)

I found a shop in PEI of all places, that specializes in z scale, and that's a good thing. Haven't found any in Calgary where I live.

If you google GHQ Models, that's what I model and game with. I'm one of their painters ;)

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

Jump over to our Z Forum and talk with the folks there. Surely they'll have a few helpful hints.

Welcome to Trainboard. A friend of mine is into Napoleonic War Games. I have helped him with a number of tables for various battles. We used a lot of Z scale structures although his soldiers were 15mm scale. My favorite was the Battle of Smolensk. I built a real cool castle for that one. It had to have large areas inside to hold a lot of cards of soldiers and artillery.

Hi Grant, welcome. War gaming sounds interesting, though I know nothing about it. I have a vague memory of an old relative in the 1930s who had a sandbox table with lots of (2"-3"?) uniformed figures where he replicated historic battles. I assume what you're doing is similar in concept, though more modern since you need trains. and smaller. Looking forward to future posts, and photos if you wish.

    Thanks guys.

This is the type of locomotive I'm after (this is Hungarian, 1941, but anything similar to this will do)

Edit: no pictures for 3 days. I'll check back next week. Bloody spammers!

Welcome aboard, Grant. I'll "cop" to having quite a bit (way too much) micro-armor as well, GHQ, C-in-C and Scotia. Never got much into accessories, we tended to keep the scenery and terrain fairly simple, but still...You may find what you're looking for through European dealers, as I suspect a lot of what you'll be looking for will end up from manufacturer like Marklin. Good luck with the hunt!

Welcome. ;) I second Eagle2's comment, I think you would need some sort of oldtimer european equipment. In my opinion you should find what you need in Marklin's catalog.

On another hand, if the diorama you're working on is 1:285 scale, you should need to perform what I would call "positive" forced perspective: you should set the Z scale (1:220) railroad action in the foreground of your diorama, then the remaining of the scene in the background.

Welcome aboard, Grant. I have no knowledge of Z, but will say "Go Flames."
