Hello everyone! I've been building model kits since i was a kid and had a couple train sets when i was young. Always wanted to get into to model trains so a couple years ago I finally bought a starter set and got going. It was a Bachmann HO digital commander set with EZ track, all that remains is the two locomotives with new NCE decoders in them and the rolling stock. I spent 2 years building a 4x8 layout complete with scenery and structures( some scratch built) then last month made the decision to take it down and start over. I am currently planning an around the walls plan in a 10x10 room. Haven't narrowed down the exact era yet but will be diesel, post 60's, major industry will be gravel loading( in memory of my dad who used to load CP Rail cars with gravel using front end loaders). Anyways I have a long ways to go on the next layout and lots of planning in the works, looking forward to spending some time on the the site.

Hi Kevin, welcome to the Train Board. I like your phase 2 concept, a clear vision of era and industry, and a well defined room use. Also an excellent opportunity to put to use everything you learned from Phase 1, both the good and the bad. Please keep us up to date with your progress, especially with photos so we can learn stuff too.
Welcome aboard, Kevin. Where in Alberta do you live? Close to any of the occasional steam operations? Oilers fan?
I'm in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Southern part of the province. Haven't seen any steam operations in these parts. And yes i am an Oilers fan however have not watched much for hockey in a few years.
