    Hello Triplex;
    I aquired some of the locos because I couldn't pass up the deal. I plan on using the RS3 (1), GP9 (3), and GP18s (8) as the workhorses, and the J for passenger service, with the Y's bringing in an occassional coal drag for interchange with the PRR. The SD's were super cheap, run good, and have decoders now, so they will get some work, but most of the 38 loco's were bought as a collection of different 1st gen. motive power, rather than power for use. Some will be static, at least until I can get enough decoders for them all.
    I couldn't refuse the Trainmaster, $42 to my door with a decoder installed, and it pulls well.
    Pennsy power is 4 Sharks, PA/PB set, VO1000, Cow and Calf, and F7 A/B, as well as an unlettered Light Mountain that may become PRR.

    Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. I'm enjoying finding all of the different forums, and have gained valuable info already. I'll try to be worthy....;)

    Just one suggestion: To reflect the last days of steam, you could assign steam inappropriately. That is, the Y's on short local freights. This is what N&W actually did. I think they were still on drags as well, but this use would say "N&W" like nothing else.

    That's what the Y's were doing when I was riding them - running locals from Clare to the Cincinnati terminal and Berry yard for transfer to the Big Four and other lines.

    But using a little modelers license, I'd like to run a string of hoppers into Clare every now and then, where they can interchange with the PRR Undercliff yard, just to the South. I would have to use the entire garage area (40x40) to be able to run coal drags in their native habitat and still have Clare as the centerpiece. Also, the limited traction on the Y's would be better suited for locals - I hope the new ones with TT pull better, and that the tires will be interchangeable with the older units. I have 80 or so hoppers that will need to be exercised now and then, and the Y's would provide the best memories for me. My grandmother lived in Newtown, just East of Clare (2-3 mi.), and I used to run to the fence when I heard one coming - often with a string of hoppers behind it, bound for Clare.

    But first I have to get the room partioned off in the garage, and get some track laid.;)

    Welcome Dan and have a seat and enjoy.
    Drag racing eh?
    Didn't it hurt to wear those heels while running? And those wigs must have gotten into your face a lot too.
    Oh well, too each their own :D:D:D LOL

    Dan, if you happen to need another Y check my Trainstore listing:teeth: . I know exactly where Norwood is. We stay in the hotel on Montgomery Road when I take trains to Cincy.

    SteveM76;
    You must go to the McCullough Yard? Or maybe Ivorydale? I remember when the Quality was built - Norwood finally hit the big time...:)
    Thanks for the offer...I'm waiting for the new Y's, with TT and sound, to see how they pull. I will probably get one if they are improved over the old ones. I do have decoders w/sound for the old ones.

    I went fast enough that the hair (no wig) was behind me....:D ..and flats are the rage now.....;)

    I go into Queensgate. My cousin lives in Mason so he'll come to the hotel and pick me up. Its a good thing because that hotel is really run down now.
