Well, I am back in the hobby after 40 yrs or so. I had a small Ho scale when I was growing up,then life got in the way…lol
I have been a CP rail fan all my life and growing up in Vancouver Canada, I was able to enjoy ,Cp Rail, CN Rail, Burlington Northern and BC Rail.
During the summers, I could watch the CP Rail passenger train leaving town along the water front every night. Loved the sounds and sight of it going by.
I am currently stocking up on what I can for a major life change. Moving to Australia to retire.
I have gone with NCE as my DCC system and ESU Loksound for decoders. Locomotives are Bowser,Kato and Scale Train. Era 1980-2000. Stressing about getting the right decoders for the Kato as not sure what board they have and buying later and shipping will be a major pain, but will figure it out.
I will be doing a small shelf layout as negotiating with property rights holder( aka wife) is a tough go. Hahaha
A local guy here has a great tube channel and has me convinced I will enjoy smaller and focus on details etc.
I am sure I will be asking dumb questions but hope you will be gentle on me.
Bring on the CP rail down under!

Wow, Australia, are you from there? I really, really, like my NCE PowerCab, and don't do sound DCC so have no idea. Is it gonna be HO or N Scale? At some point open a thread and show us what you have or get in the future and maybe a rough sketch of what you want? Enjoy retirement and the hobby.

Forget, Welcome to Trainboard too :)

Thanks for the welcome. I will be doing HO scale, I have a Walthers engine house that I want to go crazy with details and a couple of warehouses and industrial area. A lot to fit in a shelf but will try to stay disciplined.
I married an Aussie and the kids are all grown. She misses home, so we are doing the big change. I am looking forward to it.

Welcome to TrainBoard. I once heard that the only dumb question was an unasked one. Good luck in "Rooville".
