    ...Google's free photo editing program...

I put together this collage...kinda reminds me of the old days of the Polaroid Land camera images

That's pretty neat! How many "Polaroids" can you fit?

Picasa is a really nice program with some good editing features. The price is really good - free!

I believe you can put up to 5 pics in this format for the collage.

Mike, I have Picasa and haven't paid much attention to it. After seeing your collage I opened it, and it snarfed up all my photos into a file. I then tried to do a collage, but couldn't select it. You know how a pulldown menu has "faded" selections that you can't select? That's the way it showed. Any ideas? I wanna make a collage.

    Hey Fitz, try this...

go to the folder you want...highlight the image(s) you want...as you do so, the picture tray in the lower left has your image in it. Next to that is a "hold" button (in green) select that with each photo you choose. Once you've made your selection, select the "collage" button. From there it is just a matter of background or how you want to arrange the images...Good luck!

I have Picasa. But never did much with it. How does it stack up, against IrfanView?

I think it (Picasa) has a few nicer features....easier for me at least to use...such as pic resizing, croping....and image straightening...my images always seem to be a bit crooked/off kilter!! So this part I use a lot!

It has better control over B&W conversions, which I do a lot with my 20D if I don't shoot directly B&W.

Mike, thanks a ton for the instructions (which you never get with "help"). I am having a ball making collages of trains, kids, etc. Haven't sent any to the net yet for publishing here, but probably will tonight. I can see that with proper selection of photos and putting the right one on top you can be very artistic. I like it!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Here's a collage of one of my favorite nearby locomotives. Apologies to my friends Paul Burke, Jim Riffel and Mitch Goldman for the use of theirs. Isn't Mitch's pan shot great? I can see that with judicious choice of photos, such as the engine from the other side, rather than all pointed to the right, you could really do some nice stuff. Here we have 4449 in Daylight, American Freedom Train, and warbaby black.

Edit: OOPS, I didn't realize that would come out so wide. I can fix it if necessary.

Very nicely done Fitz. That's one of my favorite steamers.
