In another thread on this subject, I wrote the following. Rereading this, maybe I'll just put the engine aside for a bit and come back to it. My final word on this subject, ever..... I'm gonna post this on the 2 Model Power TT threads. I did it, and I never want to do it again. All who said "It is too hard and not worth the effort" were right. ~!5 hours over 3 different days $25 in replacement melted tender parts, a trip to Farmingdale and a loco that, while it may pull more on my 2% grade, doesn't run as smoothly as it did. piping snapped off that I don't know where it goes and a general augh. Thing is I really like the look and feel of the metal body, don't think I will run this much though. So I here the Kato Mikado is nice.... On a lighter note, the Pacific front wheels are finding all my track flaws, so there is a plus.
