Good afternoon....I have a Life-Like F40PH that does not run so I want to put the shell on a Kato F40PH. Has anyone here ever done that? Any input on doing this would be great. Thanks.

Here's a 4 page discussion on the subject and other options from 2010 here on TB. A google search on the subject gave hints to an magazine article possibly in the old N Scale Railroading. Might be worth looking at one of the model railroad magazine indexes to find which mag and what issue. If it does exist back issues can be found from various sources.
That being typed it's probably possible. The question is how much work will it involve. The LL shell has the front pilot molded on and I believe the Kato pilot is a separate piece. Maybe even the rear pilot. It's been a while since I took the shell of my Kato one when I installed DCC into it.
Unless someone makes a Ph 1 F40 in Phase I paint soon I'll probably be doing something with a LL shell or entire loco once I get out from under the pile of projects I've already started.
