    Good Day all;
    I'm to the point of 'dressing' my kitbashed engine. Sooo... Now I'm looking at paint schemes and colors. Since it is a freelanced line all schemes are open (with modification to keep theirs and mine apart :D).
    My questions being:
    1. How long to soak and what type vinager to etch the handrails for painting?
    2. In the 2000 Jan/Feb Issue of N-Scale on pg. 67 is a jig the author used to shape grapbars. Anybody make one like that, know where to get one, etc.? I want to make one, buy one, get one.

    Thanks Ahead! :D

    Well, since no one has any ideas on a jig, in my product line I have many types of wire parts, including a few types of grab irons (also see the coming soon section).

    More parts out later this month!!! :D :cool:

    Click on the link below to see my site (which needs a lot of tweeking....I know)

    I dont really know how long it takes to nicely etch the handrails in vinegar, as Ive never done it before, but try it out on some extra handrails you might have. Maybe 5 minutes?

    As for the grab iron jig by Rob Hundmann in N scale magazine, he used evergreen grooved siding with cutting it at an angle to provide different lengthes. He then fits a piece of wire in the grooves and bends it to shape. I dont know how well it works, but I use the traditional pliers to bend each grab. I use Xuron pliers that have tiny grooves for grip in them allowing me to line up the .006 wire and bend it too shape. Craig makes .01 grabs, and also JnJ makes some photoetched grabs.

    Thanks all (so far)!

    Craig, I didn't forget BLMA. Just felt like doing some 'homework' (Man! I must be growing up... OH NO! :D)
    Steve great link.

    Atirns, I knew somebody would know what it was. Thanks for your insight, too.
