When using the metal handrails on Atheran engines. What do you use to glue the stantions in place on the hand rail? Also, what color green is correct for the hand rails on a BNSF Heritage two paint scheme?

With Athearn metal handrails and stanchions I always use a pair of pliers to slightly crimp the stanchion loop to the handrail once its in position. Then I use a light dab of regular super glue to secure it even better.

I use model glue to hold the rails to the body. No other glue is used.

I use CA glue, but only after years of trying to solder them. I still think soldering is the "right" answer, but I've never been able to get it to work correctly. Maybe a resistance soldering rig????

Athearn metal hand railing CAN NOT be soldered! The railing is steel along with the stanchions! If your a good "tack" welder them maybe but it won't take no solder! Wrong type metals! I use a small set of 4 inch needle nose pliers, and crip the stachion loop tight and then paint the hand railing... If you crip them right with the pliers it will NOT flatten the stachion loop! And is plenty enough to hold it in place and if painted right the paint seals off the joint if it would happen to be able to slip slightly from side to side. Kinda works like thread lock. However, if you paint them, make sure it is done right the first time! These are STEEL hand railing, which yes, will rust! So I would use some type of anti-rust enamel paint! I've used arcylic water base enamel and it chips off and then leaves the bare metal to rust and the rusting process will them chip the paint even more.. So make sure when you paint them, they are sealed from the temperature changes and so on...
