Good Grief, now I know who he is (was). Gregg and I go back 8-10 years. He wanted to get involved with the Mississippi Economic Development Agency's attempt to buy the KCS Gulfport Branch in support of the State Port @ Gulfport expansion authorized by the Legislature in 2002, and I was helping him connect with my network of State, City, and Port Movers & Shakers.

Gregg, you were a wonderful, innovative man, and a good friend for a short time...may you Rest in Peace. God speed to your Family, Bless You!

Gregg hired our firm when he was the GM of his railroad; after his retirement I was rather surprised to discover (as was he!) that we were both seriously into N scale. I got to hire him in return as a subconsultant and had a wonderful time with him. He was my 'eyes and ears' on the Gulf coast. We were actively working on another plan for the AN and he was due to be appointed to the Rail Authority down there - that was less than a month ago.

Great guy, will be missed. Glad I had the opportunities to work with him that I did, both in 12"=1' and in 1/160.

Sorry to hear of this as I was just thinking about him the other day. I met him once when I lived in Lynn Haven, FL. It was at a train show in Dothan, AL. I remember him as a nice gentleman and my young granddaughters were impressed by him and his "small empire" on display at the show. My condolences to his family.:tb-sad::tb-sad::tb-sad:

I'm very, very saddened to hear this. A wealth of railroad and modeling knowledge has passed along with a very good and decent man.

I had the good fortune to meet Gregg at a prototype meet in Florida some years ago. I was amazed at his pioneering N scale modeling. His 1970s article on building a Pennsy H-class in N as well as seeing the little gem in person was my inspiration for doing N scale Pennsy steam.

He was the wise old sage, never lacking in knowledge and advice. He will be very sorely missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

    Very saddened...

I look at this with a heavy heart as Gregg was working diligently on his N scale empire, in the loft above his garage, for the past couple of years. For years Gregg showed-off his masterpiece locos and rolling stock on his 2' x 4' portable layout. He finally got the vision to create a large scale layout and sadly it will not be completed. Even though I never met Gregg in person, I've enjoyed our discussions on threads shared on the Atlas Forum and Trainboard. N scale has lost another great modeler much too soon.

My deepest condolences to the Mahlkov family.

:angel2: :rainbow2: Gregg... rest in peace. :rainbow:
