    Hello fellow Trainboard members.

Little bout myself. I've been into model railroading since.... I believe I was 3 years old. Dad had 2 layouts under construction in his house one in the garage and one in my room. Age 3 I was running the single track mainline and swithing from one end to the other. I'm 26 now, and just getting back into the hobby more seriously. Finally situated to where I have the time, money, and space to build a nice layout. I'm an old HO guy that has converted to N scale.

Always been a fan of Santa Fe, but what may shock you is that I am modeling Rio Grande. Yep! I've decided on a rough area of what I want to model and concept. No solid layout plan just yet...still in planning stages. I am going to model the transition era...namely between 1955-6 of the Joint line focus between Denver and pueblo...but not limited as in a start stop beginning and end. I have a 2nd garage that is isolated on the back of my home and I have claimed a nice chunk of space from the rest of the family to build in. Total of 176 square feet to build on and am planning a double deck layout. I know with the joint line I have several RRs to incorporate in planning. My idea is to definatly run the Zephyr and any Santa Chief action I can model too. Not sure if I am gunna model all the way to Salt Lake or not, but Denver and pueblo are for sure points on my layout map.

Any ideas, information for the area I am modeling and just general conversation I always welcome and some to get feedback on. Looking forward to learning from my fellow board members.

    Welcome!!

Welcome aboard!! Allright!! Another Rio Grande fan!!!

If you are going to model the Joint line, The Santa Fe and the Burlington used the same route as well. You could model both or all three. You will have plenty of modeling options.

Make sure to take photos once in a while so we can share in your progress.

Welcome aboard, Penguin. I lived in Humble back in the early 80's, Humble HS class of '89 (except I graduated from Midway HS near Waco). Go Wildcats! I'm starting an N scale layout myself, Central Texas, Mopac around the same era. I'm also in the planning stages. I have L-girder benchwork, but haven't touched it in three weeks because I'm stuck coming up with my layout plan.
