Hi all - I'm getting ready to retire and plan to get back into model railroading. 24 years in the Navy and moving around a lot didn't allow me much time to build a permanent layout. I had HO as a kid, did O gauge while stationed in Wales (mid 70s) and started N gauge in the late 70s. Then, stopped in the mid 80s. My plan now is to stay with N gauge. No basements in FL means not a lot of room for a large layout. So, I'll start with a 3' x 4' layout of some type that I can push into the corner of the computer room. My only problem is what to do with my old Hornby O gauge rolling stock. Anyway, it's good to be here and hope to get some good ideas.
Hi, Welcome to the TrainBoard. N-Scale is great for modeling, especially when space constrained. BTW, a workbench lamp with a magnifying lens sure helps, trust me. I would imagine that there might be an eager, though limited market for 40-year old Hornby equipment. A look at e-Bay O-Scale might give you an idea as to its market and worth.
Good to have you with us. Stationed in Wales - that sounds like fun! As for the Hornby, I'd almost suggest some kind of display case to hold onto it...you never know.
