Thanks to FriscoCharlie for the welcome! I'm Don and I have been modeling and collecting trains since 1965 (since 1953 if you count my Lionel 1505WS set, which I still have but with some replacement parts). I do not have a real layout (I have a couple pieces of dual gauge flex track on a shelf I can use to test DCC installations) but I'm interested in building and repairing stuff. HO stuff mostly, rolling stock and structures, but a few things in other scales. I am particularly fond of older craftsman kits (LaBelle, Ambroid, Central Valley, old Walthers kits like the Oscar and Piker, and Campbell are favorites). Some things I build/fix for or give away to friends and relatives. Some sit around on shelves. I found Trainboard while looking for information to help in resurrecting an old Keystone/NWSL shay kit. It was very helpful and much appreciated.
Hi Don, welcome. Glad to have you on board. I like your spin on the hobby, especially the "....build/fix for or give away...." That gives the most satisfaction and expands our hobby.
Welcome to TrainBoard! I see you mention "Piker". Is this reference to the old shorty car kits? (I think one was nicknamed "Oscar"?) Loved and have always thought I should find one some day, just for fun. Very whimsical.
