The Happy Rock Terminal is finally coming down...slowly. It's close to the tracks so implosion isn't an option. Most of it was taken down for the BioChambers Ethanol Plant. The Industrial Park has a buyer the rest of the land, so down she comes. I had a little odd space right in front, so I needed something of interest but a kit wouldn't do. A couple of toilet rolls, some cardstock, straws, and some window screen for rebar. Not done but most of the way there.
I've never seen anyone model an elevator demolition. A fire, yes. So this is rather interesting to view. Nice job. Boxcab E50
The prototype photo is a great benchmark to work from, but FredHickory has added a lot to the scene that fits ... observation based modelling, compliments.
With the NEW overpass going in...and the OLD building coming down in the same area...I am really liking this scene.:thumbs_up::thumbs_up: .
Makes me want to go demo a couple of buildings on my layout. I like the bridge construction next door. Can we more pictures of that as well?
I have pictures in my album and under scenery and scratchbuilding for the bridge construction. I also have a previous post, "Happy Rock Viaduct" that bdetailed the construction. Thanks for the comments all.
You know I bought some of those machines at a train show a little while ago alone with a couple of backhoes. I didn't look at the boxes and assumed I had four backhoes. It wasn't until the show was over [and everyone long gone] that I realized I only had two backhoes and two of the gripper thingys. I was trying to figure how I could bash them into backhoes but now I don't have to. I imagine they could be used in a scrapyard as well as a demolition site.
I appreciate the kind comments. I am planning on a chainlink fence around the outside, 1 or 2 tandem dumptrucks for rubble removal, etc. Any critisism of the scene or words for improvement would be appreciated. I would like to make it "right".
