My GP60M is almost done. I still need to do the front stantions, window glazing, and after taking the photos I realized that I forgot the hand brake on the enginears rear. Oh well, another tedious task ahead.

The kitbash was done using an Atlas GP40-2, a modified Atlas 3 window SD60M cab, scratchbuilt dynamic brake houseing, a modified fuel tank, and an Altas 60 series blower houseing on the firemans side. Many other detail castings were added. The paint I used was Floquil through an airbrush, and the decals were from two different Microscale sheets I had left over from another project, (FP45, & -840CW).

    Nice model

Thanks for sharing it with us

Are you planning to do a GP60B unit as well?

    Keep up the good work

Hey Brian, NICE work!! You know, few can really look at your model and understand the amount of time you have put into it. I had started a GP60M cab about a year ago but gave up, as I did things all wrong, and made things harder than they had to be.

Again, Great job, and just watch, Atlas or Kato will anounce the GP60 in a month. :D

That is very nice! I would love one (or two) of those, but do not have the urge to spend all the time or effort needed to produce them.

I have a GP60B planned but it is on hold as I catch my breath. The thought of building that dynamic brake housing again, and in a different location...

...so many projects, so little time.

Very nice! Must have been tough to pass the point of no return and cut into those Atlas units ! We could really use a cab kit or something in N scale.

I inquired fairly recently about GP60 series shells with JnJ. They said they were planning a release late this year. Still no mention of it on their site though.

Huh, F&S Engineering made those. I've never heard of F&S. Are they old and no longer around? What quality of shells do/did they make?

Here are the two eBay listings

    GP60M Shell

    GP60B Shell

The auctions each close on July 19 and bidding as of right now (1830 MST USA 10 Jul 2001) is $10.83 each. These are undecorated resin shell castings. I am not certain but I think that F&S may have been the name used by Jim Semikoski, aka
Jim's Shells. Jim once made this type of shell in the past but is no longer in business.

    Excellent job, Brian. [IMG]
I'm with Craig in regards to knowing how difficult kitbashing can become. You have done an excellent job with the M.

A fellow model RR pointed out to me that it would have been esiar to use the cab off a DD40X if you could have gotten your hands on one.

I am done with my SD90MAC phase II cab, now I just need to paint it. It came out VERY well. I'll have pictures soon.
