Hello all: While leaving work the other day I heard a train horn nearby. So I drove in the direction of the horn and saw modest train w/10 hopper cars, all 3 bay hoppers. The thing that really caught my attention was that the engineer was running long hood forward--like the Southern Rwy. Also another rarity of this train consist was a Family Lines transfer caboose on the end. Of course I did not have a camera, D'oh.
Jeff, It never fails that you don't have the camera at moments like that I haven't seen any GP39's in ages..... Harold
I did not know that they made GP39s, until I went to a CSX photo site and looked up the number--4299.
