I spotted this beauty(?) in Kokomo, IN in 1993. Going though a file drawer today I found it and thought some Southern RR fan might like it?[IMG]

    Looks great!

I saw some CSX GP30 slugs mated with, I think, GP40-2s. Could these be the old Southern GP30s?

Who owned 2637 in 1993? The Southern logo has been removed; even if it hadn't been, I know that NS had no engines left in predecessor colors by that time.
I didn't know CSX used foreign-road GP30s for their slugs. I do know that a number of ex-SOU GP30s were used in BN's GP39E/M/V rebuild program.

2637 (and the former WAB GP35 2913 behind it) were leased by the Central Railroad of Indiana at the time from Golden and Transdynamic repsectively... unknown if CEA stil ha sit. 2913 went to the Ohio Central

Some of CSXs GP30 RDMTs were built from former ICG nee GM&O GP30s by M-K....

As an aside... there were a few NS SD40-2s still in predecessor colors in 1993... one N&W that I know of for sure...

I guess the "less than 10 years to full repaint" is just a myth, like 7 years for the BN. The last GN engines were repainted in 1977, but I've seen several shots of CB&Q engines dated 1978.

When NS started their repaint campaign around 86 or so, they projected it would take 7-8 years to complete
