I'm getting ready to add some detail parts to an Atlas NKP GP-9TT, and was wondering if anyone knew of some good places/manufacturers to get detail parts? The parts I'm looking for are things like cab shades, a MARS light housing, speed recorder cable, etc. Ideas/suggestions?
Nathan. One of our members Craig Martyn is a supplier of N scale detail parts. Here is a link to his site BLMA you will also notice a link on the bottom of this page BLMA
Nathan, have a look at Sunrise's steam generator parts - they are a very nice replacement for the Atlas 'buttons'. Gary.
Thanks for the responses. I just recently looked at the BLMA site, but it's really geared toward modern locomotives, where I'm modeling the early '60s. Also, I had previously looked at the Sunrise Models site, but the steam generator detail isn't quite like what I'm looking for. See the picture of NKP 480 (I'm modeling #481). I think I'll have to get some styrene tube for that! Again, thanks for the replies.
Or brass tube. The vent could be replicated with one of the Sunrise N-401 screen-type spark arrestors. Enough for 2 TT's then! Gary.
Thanks for the plug Paul. A couple of things, one thing I have that all models can use (and as far as I know no other N scale detail part manufacturer makes) are the drop grab irons. Also, if you are interested in adding the brake cylender lines to your model I can specailly make these as I have a jig set up for them as well as SD40-2 trucks and C44-9W trucks. These are not on my catalogue but if you are interested please get in touch and we can work something out. Thanks!
