    I am confused as to weather or not the Milw Road had any GP-7's. Case in point, I have purchased the MILWAUKEE ROAD 1928-1985, and on page 231, the caption states that two Joes are assisted by a GP-7, yet nowhere have I read in the book MIlw owned any GP-7's.

    Also this link of the milw roster does not have any GP-7's listed, only GP-9's;

    Is this a typo or True [IMG]

    Is that the Scribbin's book?

    It's an error, of unknown origins. They owned several phases of GP9. Never a GP7.

    Which raises the question from dummies like me: what exactly is the difference between these two (other of course than the horsepower rating)? In other words, can someone show the spotting differences in pictures? [IMG]

    Yes it is the Scribbins book, and thanks for the response. I really like the book, do you have it?

    Thanks George H

    William:
    I don't have any reference material in front of me, but they look the same to me also, like you said other than horsepower I don't know

    Unfortunately, I do not have a copy. I've one whole shelf of publications about the Milwaukee Road. Hoping that after Morning Sun V5 and V6, plus the Steinheimer book re-issue, that I'll be able to budget money more toward modeling.

    Nice to see you here again! Hope you will join in more often!

    ok..a Scribbins book with an error?..ok, flukes exist..as for the difference between GP-7's and GP-9's...outwardly..none....just horsepower and maybe heavier bearings...I spent 2 weeks on that question back in my younger years..(maybe 6 or 7 years ago)

    Cory-

    Actually there are a couple of tiny spotting features. Differences between GP7,a nd GP9.

    The fastest is their battery box doors. On a GP7, there are three sets of louvers. On a GP9, there is either one set, or none.

    Also, the GP9 lacks some small louvers back near the radiators, which are found on a GP7.

    Otherwise, they're twins.
