Since it's hot enough to make instant sun tea these days, thought I'd share this installment of GEC Engine Shops. Best enjoyed under the AC with a cold glass of your favorite beverage.

    Good luck!

Hmmm. So, which UP predecessor would this have been? I'm thinking M-K-T of Texas?

Searching a little bit, I think you're right. So maybe I should have written "the Katy"

Right town, right fallen-flag predecessor. However, this is the south end of the Wichita Tillman & Jackson RR, which operates a former Katy line from this Texas city to Altus, OK. IIRC, technically UP owns the track in WF.

Motive power for this grain-hauler was 6 ex-CNW (nee-Frisco) GP7s and another GP7 from Omnitrax, which have all been put to pasture by six ex-UP GP38s.

Besides grain, WTJ handles materials for the oil & gas industry (Anadarko Basin is in this area) as well as gypsum wallboard from the Hollis & Eastern at Altus. It also interchanges with Farmrail/Grainbelt and Stillwater Central in Altus, and BNSF and UP in Wichita Falls.

Congrats to Carsten Weye, our Google Earth super-sleuth!

(BTW, Wichita Falls also hosts a bicycle race called the Hotter 'n Hell 100, held in the summer- and yes, it gets quite warm in those parts in summer).
