Hi guys, I'm back with the living and felt like running another of my obnoxious threads. But seriously folks !! No really... I finally bright-boyed my small (yet to be) HO mining operation. One Proto RDC serves the community around the road. This little gem has been a smooth reliable car which used to be able to run thru ANY track (even 3 rail O scale Lionel ) and wouldn't complain..Last night he seemed irritable and did not feel like working the road . He would jerk and balk and flicker his headlight in front of me in a rebelious manner i'd never ever seen before. Uh Oh , It's a Proto 1000 and, just like its always-breaking McHenry couplers, now the cheap-ass motor is going ! Well , I flipped it over with the 0-5-0 crane and of course the wheels were gunked up. I put the old K-D wheel cleaner to the powerd truck and spun away ! Then I hand-spun one dummy-truck wheel whilst holding bright boy to other side (you know). AAHHH ! Mission accomplished !! Now my guy is gonna go at 'em ! !! ..........N O P E !!" Damn cheap Proto !! You get what you pay for !!" . BUT, one more time WITH my reading glasses ON and my photographer's B R I G H T halogen bulbed flood light I took to him like a dentist !! There it was !! Dummy truck was still loaded with gunk I couldn't see before... This time I alcoholed each wheel and spun it with the tinniest jewler's flat-head screwdriver I had, holding edge of it pointing AT the tire and flange fillet ( pronounced fill-et, not fill-A ) .. Round and round she goes. Where she stops, Marky knows !! Voi La !! Gunk went flying in all directions and up onto tool. More Alcohol and paper towel spin/rubbing his wheels and put him back on his turf !! Throttle up ...BAM !! What a boy !! Go dude !! Do it !! Yeah !! PROTO 1000 RDC !! Can't beat em' !!! Knew it all along !!

Thanks guys for the nice replys.. Yeah, for some reason MRR articles which I have taken to and or especially stories in TRAINS Mag that are not only descriptive of say, a locos's lineage or a piece of track's wereabouts , but build up with a kind of feel as if the equipment itself had feelings too : ( "he finally got his thirst quenched when the water tower appeared past the sweltering glimmering railhead. Danny hopped down and flipped the ground throw, waving us in with only about four minutes to spare, knowing 311, his worst nightmare, was rapidly approaching from the east ...

    Once atrain,
mulch tanks for all your kelp in this batter..
