As some members know from previous posts, this is the name of my forthcoming layout. Track is now in place, wired and tested. It's an end to end layout, with the buffer stops for both ends at the same end of board 1. Boards are 2ft wide. I'm using Unitrack. The next step is scenery, and I've just finished building the Walthers Santa Fe Depot.

The hidden fiddle yard has 5 roads, and the station has 2 roads in the passenger area. There are at present 4 freight roads on the south side of the station, including an end-loading road for flatcars, and there are 4 freight roads on the north side. One of the north side roads wanders off behind the backscene for loaded open hoppers and gondolas to be unloaded so they can leave empty (and vice versa). I was looking at this paradise for shunting last night and wondered if I've gone too far - there's not a lot of room for the town the railroad is meant to support. Any thoughts, please, on removal of two or more of the roads in the north yard?

Also, most of the cabeese have MT couplers, with McHenry units on the Athearn ones, and all are body mounted. They all seem reluctant to uncouple from other stock in the train, using the magnets in the Unitrack. Some bought used seem reluctant to uncouple from or couple to each other. Sometimes, they will perform, but not always. Your ideas, please!

    Regards,

    Pete Davies
