At the end of the month im going on a 3 day jaunt into the mountains to well...look at trains. (duh) what can i expect to see along these two lines? power wise, and operations wise.
I can't help you much... Unfortunately, I have never been. From what I have read, I'd expect a lot of big power: SD60/70's and CW44AC's. Harold
If your going to drop by Grafton,WV gimme a message and we can meet up. Like Harold says, mostly Newer EMD & GE stuff. I think there has been a bit of run-thru power as of late (UP and BNSF) as well as leased power. You way see a few SD50's and 60's, as well and a few GP40-2's. Most of the older stuff (SD40-2's, etc...) work their way south. (Georgia, Florida, etc..) Or it seems like it at least. Also, note that CSX will be gone from the Mountain Sub as The Appalachian & Ohio of Buckhannon (Cowen Sub) will begin to take control of the area. (Approximately Mid December '05)
