Anyone have (color preferred) pics of the tall style with the large arrow-shaped target? I have one, and want to refurb it, and install it in a flowerbed, like normal ppl install a wagonwheel or a plow.. I wanna make sure it is done correctly.
Anyone? I checked my book collection, and came up empty... GN color pictorials should be helpful, but I have none..
Turns out, GN never ainted them up fancy-like.. BN added the color and highlighted handle.. GN's stock colors were black for everything but the target, red and white on the target, and that's it. Can anyone recommend a paint to spray this with? I have 99-cent walmart paint, but I don't think it will hold up well...
Right. Red with the white dot. Hmmm. Was thinking I'd mentioned that before. Maybe it was in a PM? Paint? Make certain you kill the rust. Or anything you apply on the cast iron, will end up bubbling, and peeling. Primer/sealer.... Boxcab E50

That's precisely it. Nice find! I picked up wrought iron paint... Shoudl work fine. After som corrsion control, and the rain subsiding, we'll be in business. maybe before and after photos? Ken, on a side note, the railroad club in GF has a real deal MILW switchstand... Chevrons and all!
I took that photo at Lakin, CA, which is on the former GN branch between Lookout Junction and Hambone, CA. The GN purchased much of this branch from the McCloud River Lumber Company. GN contracted all operations of this branch out to the McCloud River Railroad. The line did not see much in the way of capital investment in the last three or four decades- hence there were several of these switchstands still in use. Unfortunately, the last revenue freights ran over this line back in December 2003 and A&K Railroad Materials scrapped it last October. I doubt this switchstand- or any of the others- still exist today. Jeff Moore Elko, NV
