Instead of paint I used powdered pastel for the top portion, sealed with dull-cote and then pigmented ink markers for the windows. I then sealed it again with dull-cote I then masked the top half and used Tamiya spray paint for the green bottom. I tried to highlight as much detail as possible. IMG_9006 (1) - Copy.jpg

Jim, your paint work is always fantastic on Carlos Pinto’s vehicles!!!!

You’re posting of pictures on TRAINBOARD - not so much. hehe

I do like the color combo of the bus too. Well done.

I have no clue as to what happened here or how to correct it. They look fine in their folder. I have an order in with Carlos for a couple more items. This bus is not based on any prototype or color scheme, though it does resemble early NHRR colors. I am looking for some appropriate decals. Jim

I had this very same issue with pictures that I took using my cell phone and then attempted to post them on this forum. They looked OK on the phone but when I saved them on this site they flipped upside down.

What I did to remedy this, I rotated the pics using my phones picture editor, and rotated the original picture 360° and then saved it again. For some reason it tricks the software and then the pictures should post properly.

You don’t need to do this every time, but only for pictures that for some reason flipped upside down when you posted into the message. Some pictures or find some pictures aren’t.

Also once you hit the post reply button you have a limited amount of time to view your post and edit it. There is an edit button at the bottom of your post and if you don’t like the way it looks or see a misspelled word, just click on that button. You can now make all the necessary changes to the message you just posted. But that edit button doesn’t stay there forever. So you’ve got a period of time to make the changes which would include flipping your pictures around.

    Jim,
Excellent paint job! What type of pastels?
Oh by the way, did you glue the bus to some illustration board so it doesn't fall?;)

Thanks, Lance. Somebody else took the photos on their phone and sent them to me. I think you nailed the issue. Jim

Hi, Scott. I used Rembrandt 15 Soft Half Pastels. Item No. 300 C 15.5 30823107. I primed the surface with Tamiya Grey Surface primer first and let it dry overnight or longer. The pastels adhered pretty well before the coating of dull-cote but the sealer is a must. This view has two coats and will have a third and final one when it is decaled. I think the pastel method is only good for the bus and maybe the tanker trucks since the masking is pretty straight-forward. I'm very happy with how crisp the lines between the two colors and medium came out. I don't think I will be using a paint brush to paint resin windows any more. The pigmented ink markers work like a charm. Jim
