Hello ! I registered today. Thank you ! I have collected N scale for 5 years, I have come to the realization that my dream layout may never happen and all the new trains I have will never be used. I may keep a few special items but most will have to find new homes. Is there someplace on Trainboard.com that allows me to offer these for sale ? I do not want to break any rules and need some advice on how to proceed. Your replies would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome, Hans. Yes, we have the TrainBoard Swap Meet section for posting ads for selling. Please post pictures, if you have them.
Thank you for your reply. I found the Swap Meet section. Do I post a picture by uploading a file that will show the picture ? I have so many new unused items to offer I am not sure where to start..LOL ! I'll pick out a few and try to start from there. Most of my items are either ATSF, BNSF, SP, and UP...western roads. Any help is truly appreciated.
Welcome aboard Hans. We are glad to have you. You may upload photo(s) with your Swap Meet listings if you choose. You'll certainly have better luck with pictures. Charlie
Thank you very much Charlie ! I will take some photos tomorrow and see if I can get a few items with photos listed to get started.
Welcome to Trainboard Hans ! Have you considered building a small module ? There are a number modular groups in Southern California. In the mean time, Trainboard is a great way to participate in the hobby.
Welcome to TrainBoard, Hans. I agree with Brad. I started by building a couple of modules after joining a local club. That way I could run any equipment I had when we had an operating meeting.
Thank you for the suggestions......Yes, I spoke to a local club very close to me, and they invited me to get involved. I have set aside a few pieces that I would like to keep and maybe with those, and some DCC upgrades I can get involved later. My true hope was for my only son & I to build a large layout in our garage, but now that he is grown, and out on his own I do not think there will ever be time and/or money to do so. Kind of breaks my heart as I thought it would be something for us to do together. But as time marches on, our children go their own ways and our past dreams never come to fruition. In the meantime, I'll keep an open mind. Thanks again guys !!!!!
Hi Hans, welcome. I understand your desire to downsize, but allow me to offer some advice based on personal experience. I sold all my woo woo woo when I was about 40 due to work, grown kids, and other interfering "stuff". Then about 10 years later my wife gave me an N-Scale boxcar and some Atlas Snap-Track. Now, 30 years later, I have a lovely layout that has kept me quite busy enjoying our hobby during nearly 20 years of retirement. So think carefully, my friend, because the joys a model railroading will start nibbling at the back of your brain as you approach and enter retirement.
