Know how you feel. My little girl is now 26 and married. The photo was taken on her wedding day. Seems like yesterday that I took her to school for the first grade.
Russell, your photo reminds me of the time 20+/- years ago I saw a CSX freight on the way to New Orleans with a woman in the right seat. Also, there were a number of times when I'd see a woman swapping out the head-end at an Amtrak Crescent crew change. All cases, no fanfare, just another day at the office.
I posted this a few years ago, my daughter's wedding was held at a museum which has this wonderful operating diorama of the SP at the old Los Altos depot. Having an Architecture degree, and then a MFA in Theater Design, and now working as a professional set designer, she has helped me many times with my modeling (and, has also learned that MR stuff can be a lot less expensive than the "professional" items for building her models; at better prices!)
Way back when my wife and I were first married she would go with me on photo trips. When I was building a model or painting a locomotive or freight car she would watch the progress. When I built my railroad she would also watch me work but I never could get her involved . She never took photos or helped ballast track or applied decals. We have been married thirty nine years now. She still goes on photo trips and will check the railroad to see if I've added anything. This is a photo of my Commanding Officer
My daughter (now 16) has been going with me to train shows and on chases for years now and has become a very good rail photographer. Back around 2008-09 I belonged to a modular club, and she liked to go to the meetings. I never got her to build anything, but she did like to take pictures and run trains.
My youngest daughter is the only one of my 3 kids that built anything. Here she is scratch building from my sketch set of the "Warehouse module 2".
