I wonder if they'll ever repair the line into Lewistown? Is there any potential business? For that matter, are they ever running to Moore? Last time I asked someone it sounded as though such moves were infrequent.
Ken, Moore looked to have no activity (and I was there when the grain harvest was starting up) , as a matter of fact, on the BNSF line to Moccasin were at least a hundred coal cars in storage. Seems to me if they were going to haul grain those cars would have to be moved.
Went back home for awhile, got to run around a little. The crossing at the coal plant, looking west. The turnout with the dead lead was once a team track that served the base. (Malmstron AFB) At the 57th ST crossing (Great Falls MT) looking east toward Malmstron AFB and Red Coulee (about 10 miles away) Looking West towards the CHS elevator, and the old Milwaukee Road wye breaks off to the left and served the Great Falls Meat Co.(Milwaukee Road Archives)
I spooked up two sharptails walking through the grass, wish I had my shotgun! (unfortunately the season is closed) I worked my way east towards Falls Yard, more pics soon.
I wanted it, badly, this stand was still connected to the turnout, it looked like it (turnout) was unbolted in track sections and they were dragged to the center of the wye. I thought of contacting the local BNSF and see if I could buy it, but I had no way of bringing it home.
an industry track still exist alongside the Falls Yard. The rails in the 38th street crossing. From 38th street looking back east. This was the location of Falls Yard
The end of rails looking east towards falls yard and here, the General Mills elevator. The 25th street crossing looking west
Looking west towards 15th Street crossing. This is an active BNSF spur. Looking east towards General Mills. It's interesting how the roadbed is also used as an vehicle alley. The Milwaukee Road station, did anyone catch the excellent scratchbuild article of this station by Dan Lewis in the March and April 2015 RMC?
I heard about the article, but do not subscribe to RMC. Nobody around here I know of does, nor is there any place to buy a copy- unless I drive about a 260 miles round trip.

Shonkin Montana, grain elevator and old Milwaukee Depot still exists, as a private home, moved slightly from it's original location.
Ken, several pages back (14) my pictures links are broken (my bad) is there anyway I can correct them after this amount of time?
This probably happened when we were forced to change software, just over a year back. The site URL changed from trainboard.com/grapevine to trainboard.com/highball If I knew the specific URL for your photo locations, I could edit them, one by one. It would take a bit of time, but it can happen. PM me if you want to give it a try?
Great pics, and thanks for sharing them!! I can only imagine these lines being run on with old steamers and what it was like back then!!
