I thought I saw a book with this title a few years ago at a train show. Does anyone else have it or know about it? Wilmington was originally the hub of the ACL

Harold - I tried a few years ago to make a list of books covering southeastern railroads, don't recall that title. Perhaps you can check and see what the Wilmington historical society might have to say.

BTW, hope no one in Rocky Mount or Florence see that "hub" comment.

I don't know about the ghost railroads, but back in the early 1970's, my cousin took my sister and I to Clarkton (if I remeber right) to see a "ghost" on the railroad - the Bouy(sp) Light? Anyone ever heard of anything like that or the story behind it?

Well, 18 months after the last post. I'm here with an answer. :)

I have two 8-1/2" x 11" paperback books w/ ~50 (at the most) pages each. They cover demolished and still existing buildings related to the ACL and earlier roads in the Wlimingon, NC, area. They are really pretty fascinating. I got them when I was there a few years ago; I haven't been back since. :(

I was aware that some of the buildings had some ACL history before getting the books and enjoyed soaking up some ambience around the warehouses near where the Union Station was. One of the buildings is now a RR museum. Wilmington is a neat place to visit. Good beaches at a good price as well as some neat history - a battleship too.
