Just tested a GG-1 for the wpf and having major trouble with the lead trucks staying on track. Seems that they may be too light and jump the rails where all other steam loco's work fine.

Does anyone have any experience in fixing/modifying the lead/trailing trucks to maintain their proper position on the track??

You could add a little weight to the truck, just add the weight inside the loco, just the right amount will prove a success.

Though I don't have any electrics on my layout I have painted and detailed a couple for people and have found gluing one or two split shot lead sinkers one the leading and trailing (so it reverses well) usually does the trick. Total weight added to each truck is about 1/4 oz.

    YMMV

Have you checked the gauging of the wheels, if they are out of gauge extra wieght won't help.
If they are in gauge then watch when it is running and try and catch where it jumps.
(I own two of them, haven't had one jump *YET*...
