Ok, my original thought was a Christmas tree loop, but am considering an 8'x1' diorama on our TV/credenza. I could still electrify the track so that I could have light features like crossing flashers, etc. We'll see. The main feature will be an early Amtrak passenger train and my efforts between now and the end of the year would be to see how much I can get done with interior lighting, back red marker lights, and if I get really ambitious the green brakes-off running lights half way on the passenger cars. I'm looking at various ways to do that with LEDs and possibly fiber optics.

But today was step 1: start making the B unit match the A unit. Included pics are A and B together, B as received, after eraser of bad logo, and painting of trucks with metallic silver. I'll let it dry at least a day before I attempt any weathering.
