I had great plans for this off week, few of which were completed, due to distractions, problems with decoders, and other things.

But I did do something I haven't done in a very long time--I got to spend some time with my engines, and figure out which ones deserved a decoder, which ones were iffy, and which ones failed.

It's been at least ten years since I evaluated my roster, and 2 1/2 years since I started on the new layout. I've bought a ton of locos since I started anew, and I've never had time to run everything--new or old--and then figure out what I wanted to do with each one of them.

So I did that this week on a new 2 x 4 test loop. And I employed some old skills to resurrect, for example, a Con-Cor first-run Hudson purchased on e-Bay. It was horribly gunky, and some wires in the tender were broken but, once I had cleaned and fixed it, it ran as fine as any Hudson.

So it was a fine week--although I did have to clean my Uni-Track loop. [IMG] Must be that residue machining oil on the drivetrains [IMG]

Pete, I don't know what's on your roster now, but clearly you need even more Pennsy stuff!!!

Here's a question for you, Jerry--when did Train Fones get replaced by radio phones? Man, installing Train Fones--and other Pennsy-specific stuff--is the pits to me!

You mean, I really do have to install Train Fones?

No, I don't. This is Pete's RailRoad, after all. (But editors hate my intransigence)!
