Any suggestions for aquiring damaged shells for various kitbashing projects? Has anyone tried contacting Kato or Atlas to see if they have a damaged goods bin (man...would I love to dig through such a bin! :D). Anyway, I would love to get my hands on a SD60M shell or two in addition to a GP50 or two. Yep, it's the GP60M project! (got outbid on those F&S shells on eBay :().

    Russ, Trainworld/Trainland at:
    trainworldny.com

Has: 293 box of defective N ga. or HO ga. good for parts or kit bashing. As is, no returns, engines, cars, accessories etc. $99.95
    (Min shipping $7.95

    1-800-541-7010 orders only.

    1-718-436-7072 for info.

I got everything from couplers, people, loco shells, power trucks, frt. trucks, cars less one truck, a house less one half roof, one bridge side, odd pachages (broken taped up with less than full amount od rail joiners, light bulbs, wheels, etc), a couple of trees, just all kinds of stuff. Nothing broken, just incomplete. I felt it was a $200.00 dollar's worth. I've used most of it now.

Hey, I got outbid on those shells too. The GP-60M shell went for about 47$. Kind of high for a cast shell, but much less work than what you are going to attempt to do.

When I did my GP60M I ordered the shells and cabs directly from the Atlas website. I spent less than 20$ on a couple of SD60M cabs, an SD60 shell, and a GP40-2 shell with handrails.

If you look back a few threds you will see some photos of the finished GP60M.

Thanks Brian and Watash! Brian, the GP60M shell actually went for almost $70.00 on eBay! (the final price does not always appear on the list page, you gotta' open the item page). I did see your fine model...it's what got me looking into this again. I would probably want to start with a GP50 to get the more-correct radiator screens, although I do have a GP40-2 shell I can use.
