Hello all! Just thought that I would make introductions.... My name is Andrew, and I'm getting back into N Scale after a two year hiatus. I'm a modeler by nature, and between model train binges I work on 1/72 warbirds and 1/700 ships. I hope to build a proper layout this time around, but for now even my dreams of a small photo diorama keep getting put on hold because all my efforts go into rolling stock.

My main interest in model railroading is 'prototype modeling' and, thus, I've been trying to improve my weathering skills. I feel like all those years spent beating up prototyped static models will have to pay off sooner or later.... I hope its okay that I added pictures of some box cars I weathered in the last week, and I just started a blog regarding my weathering as well: http://ridgelinedivision.blogspot.com/

Anyway, it's a pleasure to be a member here, and I'm looking forward to getting involved! :teeth:

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

In my distant past, I have done the 1/72-1/76 armor and also the ships you noted. Had a lot of fun.

The weathering is impressive, and I particularly like the Frisco. Off topic, what era planes do you do? I've been doing a good bit of 1/72 of late, mainly around OIF/OEF subjects, hence the curiosity.

Hi Andrew, Welcome to the TrainBoard, glad to have you on board. Your weathering technique is impressive. I especially like the rusty roofs, very realistic. You know, a diorama could be a shelf-mounted switching layout if you added power and a few sidings serving local businesses...just a thought. ;)

I model WW2-era warbirds.... All of them, though I have a tendency towards PTO aircraft.

Hah! I wrote a memo to that effect for the wife to find....

Thank you for the welcome guys! I've been spending a lot of time in the N Scale Diesels Detailers group.... A LOT of solid builds in there are making my spending finger itch! Looking forward to finding my way around the rest of the site.

    Hey Andrew,
Just joined this board myself. I've been on a 30 year hiatus from N scale and am working on getting back into it. So much has changed since I last did this I figure it's going to take me a couple years to get everything together to start my layout.
I have to tell you how impressed I was with your weathering skills.....absolutely amazing!

Thank you sir! Everything I know I've learned from better modelers than myself... There is a huge amount of valuable knowledge around here. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the site! Just got back into N scale a few months ago myself after a 15 year hiatus. Your weathering is phenomenal! Do you also do your own buildings and the like? Perhaps you should consider making yourself for hire!!!
