This one's too close to home for me not to get. Famous RR - ATSF, famous RD - Route 66. So we are looking at Gallup, NM. =)

    Gallup, New Mexico

County seat of McKinley County, south of the Navajo Nation and north of the Zunis, located on I-44 and historic US66. Also, BNSF's ex-Santa Fe Transcon main line hosts 70-80 freights a day plus Amtrak's Southwest Chief. Great place to chase & shoot Transcon action east to Grants and west into Arizona. Route is followed by old US66 most of the way, and the red rock formations from Gallup to Thoreau make for some great backdrops to shoot.
