Hmm.......very interesting environment. - Significant rainfall and erosion. - Single-track mainline re-routed within the past 10-20(?) years. - Small residential community, though there may be more to the southwest. - Nine-hole linear golf course. - Passenger station southeast of country club. - No evidence of freight service. - Rivers with that much meander are typical of flat(ish) terrain. - Rivers with that much erosion are typical in limestone or sandstone strata. - Appears to be sandstone or sand northwest of the sixth fairway. Since this is a "B" puzzle, I would start looking for a newly developed second-home or retirement community, possibly in the Canadian plains provinces. The passenger station would eliminate most of the US, and any place in the US with commuter or light rail would not have this much available undeveloped land. I doubt if this is in Europe, as communities such as this generally are the result of affluance and significant disposable or discretionary income. Though, Norway or Sweden might not be out the question. I don't think they play golf in Russia, do they????
Looking just at the shadow of the bridge, I'm sure I scrolled past this already this week, looking for the Other Bridges! Northern USA; and it's a small river, so should be hard to find (again). Although, after about a week of "Intermediate" and "Advanced" hunt-a-bridge, I could just be delusional - it's happened before Good Luck y'all!
Is it just me, or does that bridge look like it has a HUMP of sorts in the middle?? Unless it looks that way because of the angle of the photo.
2nd hint: It is a seasonal Amtrak stop (closed during the winter months), and it's current weather is partly cloudy and +10 degrees F.
Found it Hi all, new here. I've been searching all over for this one and finally found it! 48°27'15.42"N 113°12'37.44"W Just outside of East Glacier Park, Montana
Well Done GVCB, and a big welcome to the Trainboard. We're very happy to have you aboard, even though you did show the rest of us up.......:tb-cool::thumbs_up:
Congratultions, gvcborders! and welcome aboard!! Matt13 comes in a VERY CLOSE 2nd. What we have here is BNSF's Two Mediciene River bridge at East Glacier Park, MT.
Here is a photo of the bridge. I scanned this from an old calendar thats in my collection. Sorry, but the calendar does not identify who the photographer was.
Northern Montana? arrrrrg! I told you I panned all around that area! On the gripping hand, after a week plus of bridges, all the shadows for valleys look the same! A check of google earth tells me 1) that is a VERY small river; very hard to find even deliberately (it's gone at less than 8km shown on the ruler) 2) that's only a nine hole course. Congratulations gvcborders, and welcome to TrainBoard. The locals are nice and the challenges frustrating Take care and keep running Steam!
I should have HAD that, but I have been in process of moving, and have little access to the net.... I have pics at E Glacier, and Two medicine.. I can share...
Actually the trestle just to the west fo East Glacier station is Midvale Creek. Two Medicine Trestle: East Glacier in the rain: Midvale Creek is being crossed by this grain train, the wind fence erected on the north side of the tracks on the trestle is barely visible over the grain hoppers:
This bridge is the eastern gateway to Glacier National Park--this is the park side: This is the Blackfeet Indian Reservation side; the BIS is just east of this location:
