Hey, what's the big idea? I can ACTUALLY make out the image on this one. Here I was going to spin in a circle three times with my eyes closed and take off my glasses to try and get a better handle on this one and I didn't have to. Looks like a truss bridge bext to a concrete highway bridge of some sort. The body of water is moderately wide but not exceedingly deep. Hmmm...
There's a very nice highway bridge on the Mississippi river that's not it. But it's just the right shade of Blue-steel, and almost right for the trees; but wrong for the river and the environs (and it's a road bridge) But it's blue! Nice trees, a rather distinctive shade of brown. No shadows worth much of anything; the first photo definitely looks upside down, the second not so much, or it's not so noticeable; so I haven't worked out which side of the dotted line to look. I believe the "artifacts" in the image tend to align with either true north or the angle the satellite flew, so that might help orient it - or throw me off
I keep looking at the wedge shaped barriers on the Highway bridge..... Are they to protect the abutments from ice? Or something else in the water??
I will post one more "Clue" later tonight and then see if that generates a WINNER or not, after that I will start dropping a few "Hints" now and then. :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink:
It looks really familiar, but since I don't generally experience my world in plan view I haven't gotten it. I do know that it's not the Columbia River. I ran the length of that one. I am now wondering if it is the Snake River or another tributary of the Columbia. It just looks so, I don't know, Northwest-y.
Hint #1 Sorry, didn't get a chance to get online last night so you will have to work with what is posted for another day. HINT: You are right, it's not along the Columbia or one of it's tributaries...
Hint #3 Well, I looked at the next Zoom Out level and I don't think it would offer any additional clues so it's time to start giving some real hints. Hint: Northern Hemisphere :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink:
Hint #4 HINT: Keep looking, it's in Russia!!!!!!! :tb-confused: :tb-confused: :tb-confused: :tb-confused:
I'm lookin'! I'm a-lookin'! It's not Vladivostok... or any of a bunch of other areas I have checked. That river looks like nearly every river in Russia. I am looking for some of the other clues.
I can't find it around "Yamalia" area (middle of Russia, north of Kazakhstan) I didn't find it in the west around the European bits; and I didn't find it in the very east around the Japanese / Chinese bits. (not to say it's definitely not there; just that I didn't see it if it was!) It does look a lot like every other river; but the trees and terrain are a bit harder to find. It might help if I was any good at geography or geology; but Russia is still a damned hard country to just brute force
Found It! Chulman, Russia (east Russia) 56°50'12.22"N by 124°52'40.33"E I don't think I like bridges any more. Can we go back to roundhouses now please?
This is not as easy as when I got a notion on one contest that it was Namibia. That country has only a few rail lines and a handful of cities.
YIKES! I was all around that area tonight. I think I did a nice big circle right around that one, but I missed it. Nice work!
Yeah, I suspect one way to do well is to guess the country right and find it quickly; while everyone else is searching all the wrong places. As opposed to, say, this one which has seen me crawl all over USA, east and west, north and south Mexico and Central America South America Australia Japan China Vietnam Both Koreas didn't stay long in India, just not right East Africa Eastern Europe Russia (finally) I accuse the Intermediate bridge of being on a Pacific Island (Indonesia or the Philippines) and the Beginner of Canada - where many of the rails aren't marked in Google Earth, making it hard to find!
