Hi all, today I would like to introduce my latest project on 5-inch gauge (Z-scale has to wait some weeks...). This loco was once upon a time a MAXITRAK-Dixie (0-4-0). In the meantime, I learned something about 15-inch light railways in UK and read about a special geared locomotive designed by Beyer-Peacock for New Zealand. The idea was to combine a larger scale based on 5-inch gauge with the possibility to increase power of Dixie. So I designed my own Climax + Garratt = "Garrax". It has the old boiler and cylinder, but complete new chassis, trucks and gearing. It is possible to add a larger boiler someday. That is more a functional model than a high detailed locomotive and made its successful test run yesterday. Here come some construction photos and the present status. Steffen
