I am hand-laying a crossing in N scale. I am using the pc tie method and I am about to be finished laying the rails. My question is how do I need to gap the rails in order to maintain proper polarity through the crossing? To make it a little more complex, the crossing is being used between two turnouts as the picture below shows.

I have tried to think this through and I have come up with the following solution. The ties are all pc board material and the red marks are gaps in rails or where I will remove the copper from the ties.

Because of my track arrangement, I have some short circuit potential. Therefore, I have isolated each side of the crossing diamond. Right now I plan to leave these dead but I keep thinking that there must be another way so that I can provide power throughout the crossing.

I hope I have not scared anyone off with this post. I eagerly look forward to any replies.

I would like to know that too.
Is there any way to wire the crossover without using a DPDT switch to power the frogs?

Just follow the bright green lines. And yes I think you need DPDT switches to wire it.

You still need to gap the left and right frog.

    So any pictures yet [IMG]

This is how I would wire the frogs with a DPDT switch. The disadvantage is that you HAVE to flip the switch to the correct route, else you will have a short when the train crosses the gap.

Not yet, but soon. I have become busy with other stuff right now. Very soon I will be able to get back to it. Then I will take a few pics and post them here.
