The challenge in this thread is to find freshly painted railroad equipment, either rolling stock or infrastructure. Here is Housatonic RR GP-35m, with a fresh coat of paint and a logo added to the nose that was not part of the older scheme,
I guess the other question is what ispired those paint colors? It kind of looks like a "Reading" inspired scheme that had a bad yellow paint chip for a match. Harold
The Housatonic runs along the western edge of Connecticut, for the most part. It interchanges with CSX in Pittsfield, MA. They may also have a connection with the P&W, but I know not where. That second unit was bought from the P&W in 2001 and has yet to be repainted. The color scheme reminds me, somewhat, of the Chicago & Northwestern. The Housatonic was one of many short-lines that were bought out by the New Haven. When the NH was merged into Penn Central, PC sold off all the short-lines. While part of the NH, the Housatonic was known as the Berkshire Branch.
This is probably the first (long) shot I've taken of the new BNSF logo. 7756 leading a solid train of new covered hoppers over the former Route 66. [ September 27, 2005, 09:37 AM: Message edited by: campp ]
