The Coil Covers, for coil steel gondolas, are available in transverse and longitudinal designs, with multiple lengths and widths available. The “durable and lightweight design” is available with easy-to-repair bolt-on ends, and offers foam insulated or hydrotherm painted linings.

The Diamond Forged Knuckle, for Type E couplers, is forged from a single piece of steel, not cast, and thus has “three times the wear life, functions like a knuckle should and has a harder surface,” according to Director Parts Sales Levi Sweazy. Newly certified by the Association of American Railroads Coupling System & Truck Castings Committee, it weighs the same as a cast coupler (roughly 85 pounds). FreightCar America said it subjected the new knuckle to 1.6 million testing cycles, far above the 600,000 minimum testing cycles required by the AAR, and it easily passed.

FreightCar America has plans to produce a Type F Diamond Forged Knuckle.
