A real oldie, CN predecessor Canadian Government Railways outside brace wood boxcar: Note the brake wheel on top. Imagine running along the roofwalks of a moving train, after the engineer signals to stop, applying the brakes on each car, day or night, sunny, hot, cold, rain, sleet, snow... Courageous or crazy? It was a living. George Westinghouse saved a lot of lives after he patented the automatic air brake. Exporail, August 2016.
From May 1984 at Montgomery, AL, AWP 51201, built March 1965. Note that the roofwalk and ladders are still intact. Fun Fact: Micro-Trains 31120 from 1982 is a somewhat similar N Scale car.

Taken in GJ CO 1997, these are hauling some kind of dust abatement, they used to spray on dirt roads. These are very similar to HO scale MDC 50' tank cars, unfortunately this service is very caustic, and where these cars will finish their productive service lives. A lot of patching and restenciling. Non hazmat service.
Taken at the Railhead switch just west of Durham siding in GJ CO 1999. This car was one in a pool of cars leased by then Total petroleum in GJ, here sitting MT waiting for an eastbound PU headed to Denver for reloading, to make another cycled trip to GJ.
