I can just envision bumping along in a DC3, trying to enjoy a sip or two. At least my air time in a DC3 was not quite smooth....

Lets see, were you airborne infantry when you were in the Army? If you were, they were probably trying to throw you out the door anyway.

    lulz.

He said, DC-3, not C-47. Not that a Gooney Bird by any other name rode any smoother...

    Russell-

No. Nothing airborne. Heights are not a strong point for me, let alone jumping from any altitude. In a DC3 I was more worried about the old wings falling off. Even though they are a hearty plane... My military was mostly on ground, with a few stray travels via Huey.

I remember a USAF safety manual 60~ years ago that stated even the venerable Gooney could do a pirouette at the end of the runway if the pilot really screwed up the controls. Personally, I loved those birds. I even survived going through a few too many thunderstorms on them....me, but not my stomach.:tb-wacky:

Thought I'd resurrect this old thread by posting some advertising copy that I found in an old (1966) Kansas City Athletics baseball program that I was looking through. Charles Finley owned them back then, and they were still playing in Municipal Stadium downtown. Look at those fares! View attachment 47978

Mike, your link appears to broken. Is there another way to get to Attachment 47978?

I'm not sure I want to look at those fares. It'll just remind me how utterly worthless the dollar has become.

For Post #26 (P.S. For what it's worth, I have a very difficult time navigating this site, so I don't spend a lot of time here). Hope this image "sticks."

WOW...only $38.10 for a 42 hour round trip between KC and NO. OK, so it was 46 years ago and in coach, but still.....
