Every now and then I bump into a video that hits home for me. As a Santa Fe Railfan and Modeler, here is one of those Videos.

Now keep in mind the operations and handling of cars you are about to see is old school when compared to today's way and means of getting the job done. However, if you are looking for modeling ideas. Well, check this out for yourself.

I knew some of you would like it.

Nice! Time to dig out the old VHS tapes. I have several with Santa Fe clips or topics. First generation EMD, plus some other makers.

Fascinating, and a far cry from how the KCS replaced 90# jointed rail with 115# CWR on the 67 mile orphan Gulfport Branch in 2012. The whole job completed in less than a year, including replacing a bunch of wooden trestles with concrete spans.

I like those motorcar indicators. I remember those on the EJ&E when I was young. There was a little semaphore that rotated under glass, just like in the video.

The GN had these in some of their depots, on the operators desk. They were used with their color light train order signals to indicate a clear board, orders, or stop.

There was one of these little signals at Black River Jtc south of Seattle, Wa for the UP to cross over the Milwaukee Road mainline. Thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen at the time!
