Do you wanna know what the favorite (and perhaps not-too-flattering) nicknames are for the railroad of your choice? Check this place out:

Looks as though the list has been updated since our last visit. I suppose that as time goes on, it will get longer, and longer......

One that could be listed for a favorite of mine, as I've heard it mentioned and spoken of it many times: Minneapolis & St.Louis RY is often known by: "The Em and Saint Ell."

    Hi all,

I think the list is short a couple of nicnames.
The other nicname for the Northwestern Pacific was Never Will Pay. And I also heard the Western Pacific called The Old Woden Axle.

    Not sure why? [IMG]

While "The Borg" is certainly appropriate (and my favorite), I also think UP could be "Ugly Paint"!

I've heard of a few other RRs that had this nickname.

This has me wondering. Were the management people considered to be cheap when it came to upkeep? Or buying much needed new equipment?

Hadn't heard that one, but if you mention "the Louie", I know which road you're talking about.
I miss those middleweight Midwestern roads....

All those nicknames, and not one for Frisco...... :D :D :D

The ultimate successor (Been Nothing Since Frisco, Big New Super Frisco, Bad News Santa Fe, Burlington Northern S****ed the Frisco) has quite a few, including my favorite- Beansniff.

As for the Unlimited Parking/Ugly Pileup/Utterly Pathetic.......wonder if they'll ask for fees to use these names............. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I did hear one for the UP/SP merger- yoU People Start Packing (referring to the Espee folks)

One thing for sure- if you have no sense of humor, or are hypersensitive, you shouldn't read this list [IMG]
