So is the Bachmann On3 attempt a flash in the pan, or something that is likely to be around for a while?

I think the Bachmann On30 will be around for a while. I haven't been to their web site for a while, but they were supposed to be bringing out a bigger rod engine and a Shay. They have been selling the original sets like crazy to the Christmas village collectors.

Thanks Greg...I've been watching this for a bit and am interested (I like the look and the fact that I caould operate on HO track), but don't want to get into something that won't be supported in five years...

    John,

If your into hand laying track, On3 ties and an HO track gauge are all you need. Peco makes flex track and sells switches. If you go to http://www.Bachmanntrains.com
you can see all they have to offer. Another thing I like about them is Bachmann doesn't do limited runs and then charge an arm and a leg. If your into kit building, On3 kits work and Bachmann sells the trucks separately. Judging by the amount of road names offered, they will be around for awhile.

Thanks Greg, it would be nice to get into On3 as I really like the way they look ;) . I am in transition now (had a half-built N-scale layout in the garage that had to be torn out for a new car :( !) but have lots of HO materials left from early layouts. I have never hand laid track but have always been interested in giving it a try. Plus, I would guess that installing DCC in the On3 would be a snap compared to N or even HO scale (neither of which I have even bothered to try!).
