Well, having temporarily installed the turntable I decided to install the first piece of track [IMG]. I starts at the turntable and consists of the lead track to the mainline, which begins on the second module. The SFSW is now a reality [IMG] [IMG]!! Happy Modeling!!

Thanks Moose!! Nothing operational yet, but I have "posed" my engines on the track near the turntable to get a feel for how things will look [IMG]. Good luck with the benchwork!! Happy Modeling!!

Oh yeah...exciting is the word alright [IMG]!! I have moved to the second module so that I can lay down turn outs leading into the run-around track on module 1. I hope to try and at least get a sketch on the board sometime soon, so I can get some comments on the planned layout. It would be great to have folks point out the glaring errors that I just don't see...before I build them in [IMG]!! Happy Modeling!!

You're getting ahead of me! I just got the plywood tops on my benchwork. No track yet... I haven't even bought any. My locomotive is still in the box [IMG]

Heck, I haven't even decided 100% on a track plan yet.

Congrats on your progress. Hopefully I'll stop planning one of these days and actually get some track down.

    D-6,
I just couldn't wait any longer [IMG] [IMG]!! I am revising my basic track plan as I go. Got a complex of turn-outs laid tonight on module 2 so that I can connect to the run-around track on module 1 and the turntable lead track to the main lines. No power to the track yet, but I have rolled a car across the connections and all seems smooth [IMG]. I posed my 4-8-4 with tender on the turn-table tonight also. Looks pretty good!! Happy Modeling!!

It is always satisfying when you start to see progress of your layout. Once you have laid enough track you might want to temporarily wire the modules and run a train over it.
Good luck with the layout and I look forward to seeing pictures.

Yeay! Things are getting exciting now, everyone is getting feaverish! Go with the Colonel, DO hook up leads (alligator clips) to the first track, and watch an engine run back and forth, because when it comes alive, you have a running railroad, not just an arm chair full of dreams! I'm running, he's running, soon we will all be running and posting photos!!! [IMG]

Right with ya Watash!! Laid down the run around track tonight. I hope to get it connected to the turn-outs tomarrow night, then there will be enough track to "test" a few engines on [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]!! Watch out boys...the SFSW is on a roll [IMG]!! Happy Modeling!
